Welcome to the Illinois Trust
The Illinois Trust (the Trust) is a diversified, open-end, actively managed investment trust designed to address the short-term cash investment needs of Illinois public Investors, including school districts, municipalities and their political subdivisions and agencies.
Investments designed for Illinois’ local governments (municipalities, counties, school districts and other public agencies)
The Trust, through its various services, provides Investors an opportunity to maximize their income potential while maintaining safety of principal and liquidity as their primary investment objectives. Currently, the Trust offers Investors the following investment options:
- Illinois Portfolio1: This investment stresses safety of principal and liquidity as its objectives, which is underscored by its AAAm rating from S&P Global2. For more information, see the IIIT Class Fact Sheet.
- Illinois TERM: This fixed rate investment portfolio offers maturities from 60 days to one year. It is designed to match the cash flow requirements of investors with the cash flows from the portfolio, and has a AAAf rating from Fitch Ratings3.
Investors also have access to a range of additional products authorized by the Board of Trustees and administered by PFM Asset Management4 (PFMAM), the Administrator to the Trust.
Owned and operated by Illinois public agencies
The Trust’s structure enables it to offer services exclusively to Illinois public agencies. These attributes set the Trust apart:
- The Trust is owned and operated by its investors, helping the Trust remain focused on the particular needs of Illinois municipal investors.
- Investors elect members of the Board of Trustees. They are responsible for the overall management of the Trust, including formulation and implementation of investment and operating policies and selection of various professional organizations to provide services to the Trust.

1 The Illinois Portfolio offers two classes: The IIIT Class and the IPDLAF+ Class. The IPDLAF+ Class is offered only to park districts, forest preserve districts, conservation districts and joint recreational programs and shares of the IIIT Class are not available for purchase by these entities.
